CHRIS AUS ROSTOCK

We make pictures together.

I'm Chris. We start with an idea. We don't need to know exactly how the pictures will turn out. We talk, look at the pictures and find a direction together.

Why me?

PLENTY OF PHOTOGRAPHERS OUT THERE.

I'm sure there are photographers
who look better than me

Plenty with bigger cameras and the latest equipment, too. But that probably isn't what matters. We need to get along. You need to feel comfortable in front of my camera. And I need to understand what you have in mind. We'll work out the rest as we take pictures.

So what shall we photograph?

You may already know exactly what pictures you'd like. If you still have questions or aren't sure which direction to take, we can look more closely at your ideas and favourite pictures.

Do I need to know what to do in front of the camera?

You don't need to know how to pose or feel at ease in front of the camera straight away. It's fine if it feels a little unfamiliar at first.

I won't leave you standing there.

I really won't. I'll talk to you and give you something to work with. You don't need to know any poses or what to do with your hands. We get moving, and a lot falls into place on its own.

The plan will change anyway.

One idea leads to another. We'll like some things more than others. Those are the ones we'll keep exploring.

We're allowed to have fun, too.

I don't take myself too seriously. We can be silly and try things that might not work. Sometimes that's where the next idea comes from.

So how does a shoot work?
