AN IDEA BECOMES PICTURES

One idea is enough to get started.

Tell me what you have in mind. We'll work out a plan for your shoot from there, one step at a time.

How does an idea turn into a photo shoot?

YOU DON'T NEED IT ALL WORKED OUT

What do you have in mind?
A rough direction is enough.

It might be a particular picture, a mood or a location. Or just a vague idea. That's enough to start a conversation.

PORTRAIT

A look. An expression.

You can look very different within a few minutes. You don't need to reinvent yourself. Sometimes a change of expression is enough.

BOUDOIR

Closeness and feeling.

Closeness isn't necessarily about how much you reveal. Sometimes the opposite is more interesting. There's no need to resolve all the tension.

NUDE

Skin and light.

Light can reveal as much as it conceals. Move a few centimetres and the whole picture changes.

NO FIXED BOUNDARIES

There's plenty of room in between

A portrait can be sensual. Boudoir can focus on expression and intimacy, or move into nude photography. Sometimes we don't need to decide in advance what we'll call the pictures afterwards.

We don't need a category to decide what suits you. We talk about the pictures that interest you: expression, intimacy, clothes, skin, light, location and anything else that matters to you.

So how do we go about it?

03 / THE DETAILS

We have a direction.
Now for the plan.

We work out what we'll need beforehand. That way, you know what to expect and arrive prepared. There will still be room for whatever develops during the shoot.

LOCATION

Where shall we shoot?

We choose a place for the shoot. If it needs booking, we arrange that in advance.

LOOK

What will you need?

We talk about which clothes to bring and anything else you'll need. If you'd like, we can book professional make-up for the shoot.

DONE

That's it.

We have a plan. That's all we need to decide beforehand. The rest can develop during the shoot.

Do I need to know what to do in front of the camera?

You don't need to know how to pose or feel at ease in front of the camera straight away. It's fine if it feels a little unfamiliar at first.

03C

I won't leave you standing there.

I really won't. I'll talk to you and give you something to work with. You don't need to know any poses or what to do with your hands. We get moving, and a lot falls into place on its own.

03B

The plan will change anyway.

One idea leads to another. We'll like some things more than others. Those are the ones we'll keep exploring.

03A

We're allowed to have fun, too.

I don't take myself too seriously. We can be silly and try things that might not work. Sometimes that's where the next idea comes from.

04 / THE SHOOT

Everything's ready.
We can get started.

Now we can concentrate on the pictures. Our preparation gives us a direction. The pictures take shape as we shoot.

05 / AFTERWARDS

The shoot is over.
Now for the pictures.

After the shoot, we look through the pictures together. We choose the ones to keep and talk about what matters to you when I edit them.

CHOOSING

Which pictures will you choose?

We take our time looking through the pictures together after the shoot. You decide which ones I'll edit.

EDITING

What happens to the ones you've chosen?

I'll then edit your chosen pictures.

YOUR FINISHED PICTURES

How would you like to see your pictures?

You'll receive your finished pictures as digital files. The series feels different again in a photo book. For me, that completes a shoot. It's included with explore.

Any questions?

BEFORE THE SHOOT

What if I don't know exactly what I want yet?

That's fine. An idea or a sense of the direction is enough. We'll talk it through and see what we could do with it.

Can I bring my own ideas or reference pictures?

Yes. Pictures, screenshots or other references help you show me what you like. They're a starting point, not something we need to recreate.

DURING THE SHOOT

What if I feel uncomfortable at first?

That's fine. Being in front of a camera can feel unfamiliar at first. We take the time we need. The first picture doesn't have to get us anywhere in particular.

Can I change my mind during the shoot?

Yes. Planning something doesn't mean we have to photograph it. You can change things or leave them out at any point.

AFTERWARDS

When will I receive my finished images?

This page doesn't yet specify a delivery time.

Will my pictures be published?

Having a shoot and agreeing to publication are separate decisions. Pictures are only published with explicit permission.
