Black-and-white portrait of a blonde woman with flowing hair

A MATTER OF PERSPECTIVE

You in front of the camera. More than one side.

A portrait can be calm, direct, strong or quiet. Together we'll find pictures you recognise yourself in.

Not every good picture was planned that way.

DOZENS. MAYBE A HUNDRED.

Just three or four more pictures …

You move a little. Something makes you laugh and you glance away. Your hair isn't quite where it was a moment ago. It tends to do its own thing anyway. One idea works. Another doesn't. And some of the pictures were never part of the plan.

CLEARLY OUT OF FOCUS

The different approaches overlap
and the lines begin to blur

Portrait, boudoir and nude photography each have a different focus. Portraits put more emphasis on gaze and expression. Boudoir can feel closer and more sensual. Nude photography gives the body and light a greater role. The boundaries between them are fluid.

PORTRAIT

A look. An expression.

You can look very different within a few minutes. You don't need to reinvent yourself. Sometimes a change of expression is enough.

BOUDOIR

Closeness and feeling.

Closeness isn't necessarily about how much you reveal. Sometimes the opposite is more interesting. There's no need to resolve all the tension.

NUDE

Skin and light.

Light can reveal as much as it conceals. Move a few centimetres and the whole picture changes.

THERE'S ALWAYS SOMETHING

We leave some things to chance
But not everything

What actually happens on a shoot with me? What do I do and what happens on its own? And what needs to be settled beforehand? What do we plan and what can we leave open for now?

SMALL PRINT

Perhaps you were wondering …

BEFORE THE SHOOT

What should I wear?

Bring clothes you like seeing yourself in. Two or three different outfits give you a few options to change into and try. We can look through them together beforehand to see what suits the pictures you have in mind.

Do I need to know what to do in front of the camera?

No. You don't need to know any poses or practise beforehand. I'll give you something to try and we'll adjust it until it feels right.

DURING THE SHOOT

Do we shoot in the studio or somewhere else?

Either is possible. We can shoot in the studio in Rostock or use another location. It depends on the pictures you want to make.

What's the difference between a portrait and a professional headshot?

A professional headshot has a specific purpose, so the session is kept short. A portrait shoot gives us more time to try different clothes, lighting and pictures. We can take it in a completely different direction too.

AFTER THE SHOOT

When do I choose my pictures?

We look through the pictures together after the shoot. You choose which ones you'd like to keep. You don't have to decide while we're still taking them.

Will my pictures be published?

Having a shoot and agreeing to publication are two separate decisions. Pictures are only published with explicit permission.
